ISLAMABAD – Mahroosh Umer, a 17-year-old Pakistani student, has clinched victory at the prestigious AI 4 Good Incubator 2025. Leading a multinational team, the AS-Level STEM prodigy developed AgriGuard.AI – a breakthrough solution helping small farmers fight climate change while boosting incomes.

The Winning Innovation

Facing the challenge "How might we use AI to accelerate the journey to net zero?", Umer’s team created an AI platform that:

  • Analyzes satellite/soil data to provide hyper-local farming advice
  • Promotes climate-smart practices improving soil health
  • Connects farmers to carbon credit markets for new revenue streams
Mahroosh personally engineered an interactive Glide prototype demonstrating real-time decision support for farmers.

Global Recognition

The 5-day "techathon" drew hundreds of international teams, but AgriGuard.AI stood out for its:
✅ Practical application for vulnerable smallholders
✅ Dual environmental-economic impact
✅ Scalable use of existing satellite technology
"Farmers visualized how AI integrates into daily work through Mahroosh’s prototype," noted competition judges.

Spotlight on Pakistan

The win signals Pakistan’s rising tech talent:

  • First Pakistani-led team to win this UN-affiliated challenge
  • Solution addresses critical Global South agriculture needs
  • Mahroosh aims to pilot AgriGuard.AI in Pakistan’s farmlands

"This proves Pakistani youth can lead in climate-tech," Mahroosh stated. "We’re bridging AI innovation with real-world hunger for sustainable farming."
